Welcome to the first newsletter from Sue Rees Associates
As specialists in accountancy recruitment, our clients often ask our advice on a wide variety of recruitment issues and we are always keen to help and support. With this in mind we have decided to launch a newsletter as an extension of the service we already offer. Our aim is to answer your questions and bring you useful, practical suggestions to help you get the best from your staff. Over the next few issues, we'll bring you our guidelines on writing a person specification and tips on retaining your staff, as well as keeping you up to date with industry news and legislation changes.
As an industry that is forever changing we are always looking for ways to enhance our service to benefit you. With our tailored approach, careful candidate pre-selection and focus on your objectives, we like to think we really add value to your business.
We are also keen to hear from you! If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please email Gail Walters or call on 01865 292141 with your thoughts. We know you are busy so we want to make sure that we cover topics which are interesting and relevant to you and your business.
Guidelines for writing a Job Description
First get as much information about the post as possible, the best way to do this is review a similar description you may have or talk to other employees and supervisors that have similar positions. Then once you have an understanding of the role decide what kind of personality, experience and education are needed. To enable you to do this you need to do a job analysis covering the following areas.
- The mental/physical tasks involved
- How the role will be carried out
- The reason the vacancy exists
- The qualifications and experience required
- The fit of the person especially within the team
- Reporting structure
- Salary and benefits
- An overview of the department may help as this will give the candidate an insight into the culture and current situation.
Remember that a job description is a live document and needs to be reviewed and amended as appropriate.
In our next issue, we will look at ways to keep your staff engaged and committed. If you would like to find out more about Sue Rees Associates and the services we offer, why not take a look at our website or give us a call on 01865 292141?
